Below are the three different expressions of each of the Nine Enneagram Types.

Each subtype is connected to a dominant survival instinct, SELF-PRESERVATION, SOCIAL AND ONE-TO-ONE and combined with the central emotion and motivation of the type.

Two's are kind and helpful ... to a fault.

Self Preservation Two* - Youthful

SP2's connect with people using their young, playful attitude and intuitively sensing what others need.

Social Two - Hardworking Leader

SO2's connect with people by working hard to support everyone in their social circle.

One-to-One Two - Enchant

OT2's connect with people by anticipating every need of those in their closest circle.

OT3's work for success in one- on-one relationships - helping specific others achieve success.

Four's feel very deeply a full spectrum of emotions.

Self Preservation Four* - "Happy" Four

SP4's channel their emotions inward so as to appear stoic, strong and uncomplaining.

Social Four - "Sad" Four

SO4's channel their emotions into everything to authentically feel and embrace their reality.

One-to-One Four - "Mad" Four

OT4's channel their emotions outwardly to express their individualism.

Fear the outer world and withdraw

Five's have an incredible depth of knowledge and value alone time.

Self Preservation Five - Boundaries

SP5's bypass fear by retreating, seeking boundaries and alone time. They are often very self-sufficient and private.

Social Five - Expert

SO5's bypass fear by seeking knowledge and learning. They are often very intellectual - an expert surrounded by experts.

One-to-One Five* - Confidant

OT5's bypass fear by seeking an ideal partner to confide their depth of knowledge and self.

Six's are very loyal and prone to worst-case scenario thinking.

Self Preservation Six - Self Protection

SP6's manage fear with friendliness. They protect themselves by finding protectors in different areas of their life.

Social Six - Duty 

SO6's manage fear on behalf of the group. They protect themselves by finding a system of authority - people, rules, books, organizations, religion.

One-to-One Six* - Rebellion

OT6's manage fear and protect themselves by pushing back using contrarian thinking and attacking fear with strength.

SO7's avoid fear by helping others and working to ensure freedom and choice for others.

One-to-One Seven - Dreamer

OT7's avoid fear by being enthusiastic and optimistic - the dreamer, idealist, seeing the world with rose-coloured glasses.

Eight's are strong and bold ... don't mess with them or their people.

Self Preservation Eight - Material Security

SP8's channel their strength into making things happen and getting their needs met in a very direct way.

Social Eight* - Solidarity

SO8's channel their strength into protecting and supporting others, and fighting injustice and exploitation.

One-to-One Eight - Power

OT8's channel their strength into being the centre of the action - they are passionate, assertive, trail blazers and change maker.

One-to-One Nine - Fusion

OT9's distract themselves by taking on the attitudes/feelings/ opinions of others.
